The “Brain Fitness Program” is the title of a PBS show that aired in December, 2007. There are a variety of brain fitness programs on the market, today, ranging in price from $19.99 for Nintendo’s “Brain Age 2” to $395 for Posit Science’s training program.

With so many different titles to choose from, how do you know which brain fitness program is right for you? You might want to start with some “freebies”. There are many on-line websites that offer brain teasers. If you like them, then you may want to “step-up” to the Nintendo game, if you own a player.

But, primarily, you want a complete plan. Think of it as a health plan for your brain.

As you exercise your body, you also need to exercise your “gray matter”. Regular physical activity is important, including regular aerobic activity 3-5 times per week. Regular physical activity keeps the blood flowing, improves circulation to the brain-cells. If you lead a completely sedentary lifestyle, you will become “duller and duller”.

None of the brain fitness programs that you buy in a box will provide everything that you need for continued mental clarity. Along with regular physical activity, you need a healthy diet.

Certain supplements are extremely beneficial. Omega-3 fatty acids, for example, have been an integral part of scientifically controlled brain fitness programs for many years. Other supplements on the market include DMAE, but there is limited scientific research concerning the health benefits of the supplement.

10 Tips For Fitness Training

Before fitness training, one must give importance to doing warm-up or stretching exercises to prevent accidents or to enhance the output during the training. There are also a number of precautionary measures and tips to serve as guidelines when doing fitness exercises.Here are some of them.

1.To increase your flexibility and to avoid injuries, stretch before and after workout. Almost everyone knows that stretching before workout prevents injuries during the exercises, but only few people know that stretching after workout, when muscles are still warm, can increase flexibility.

2.Hold your stretching position for more than 60 seconds to increase flexibility. While holding your position for 20 seconds is enough for warm ups, holding each position for at least 60 seconds will develop the body’s flexibility.

3.Do not go into a stretching position then immediately return to the relaxed position, and do it repeatedly. This is more appropriately termed as bouncing while in a position. When stretching, hold that position for several seconds, and then slowly relax. You may do this exercise repeatedly this way. Bouncing or forcing yourself into a position during stretching can strain or damage some joints or muscles.

4.Work slowly in increments instead of immediately proceeding to doing the hardest exercise or position.

5.Make sure that you have stretched or warmed up all muscle groups. For some people, even if they have strong bodies, they tend to neglect the neck when working out of stretching. Stretching the neck muscles can be as simple as placing the palm of one’s hand against the front of the head and pushing it. Then, do the same to the sides and the back of the head.

6.Stretch regularly to continually increase your range of movements and your level of flexibility and strength.

7.Workout considering only your capabilities and not of others. Do not force yourself to do exercises that you are not yet capable of just because there are people who can do it. Increase your limits slowly. Listen to your body. There are days when your body may be too tired that you may have to consider reducing your range of motion.

8.Learn to rest. Rest in between sets and stations to make sure that the body has enough time to recover its energy. Also, it is advisable that you don’t work the same muscle groups consecutively for two days. The muscles grow during the period when you rest and not when you are working out.

9.Do aerobic exercises to strengthen your heart. Aerobic exercises are those physical activities that much oxygen for fuel. This includes cardiovascular exercises such as skipping rope, running or swimming.

10.Music may help you when you want to train for longer periods or to increase your intensity. You can use mp3 players, CD players or lightweight am radio receivers for this. Just make sure that you brought your headset with you so you wouldn’t disturb people who don’t prefer music while exercising.

Apart from preventing injuries and increasing one’s limit, it is also said that stretching is good for a tired body and also for a stressed mind and spirit.

When it comes to seeing yourself in a 100% fit body do you believe that it can occur? If you don’t why do you feel that way? The reality is that there isn’t a human being alive that cannot achieve a 100% fit body unless they are hampered by real physical disabilities that actually prevent it.

For others, thinking about exercising to achieve total healthy fitness, seems like just another chore to add to the daily impossible list. Life chores get prioritized in such a way that the self is placed last in line with exercise fitness being lost in the sea of believing it is simply unachievable given time constraints. However, if the average American takes 30 minutes of their daily 4 ½ hours a day in front of the television to exercise, achieving exercise fitness health is clearly not actually constrained by all the other daily life chores in reality.

When it comes to the benefits of exercise fitness, the fact that it is as important to your overall life as food and water becomes abundantly clear. Based on the American Presidential Council on Physical Fitness and Sports moderate daily physical activity can reduce substantially the risk of developing or dying from cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers, such as colon cancer. Daily physical activity helps to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, helps prevent or retard osteoporosis, and helps reduce obesity, symptoms of anxiety and depression, and symptoms of arthritis.

Additionally, heart disease is the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States. Physically inactive people are twice as likely to develop coronary heart disease as regularly active people.

But though most people already know about the extensive health benefits of regular exercise obesity continues to climb in the United States and 70% of Americans continue to live without engaging in any regular physical activity.

The President’s Council On Physical Fitness and Sports further reports that the major barriers most people face when trying to increase physical activity are time, access to convenient facilities, and safe environments in which to be active.

Is that real? Not quite! The time constraint issue is clearly not real when 4 ½ hours a day is spent sitting in front of a television. Everyone can cut 30 minutes out of their T.V. schedule to take care of the need for physical activity every other day. The access to safe and convenient facilities represents another ‘excuse” that doesn’t mesh with reality because taking care of the healthy need for regular physical activity does not have to occur at an outside facility of any kind and can easily be taken care of in the home.

There are plenty of new and different exercise routines that are available through DVD that come out almost every week that anyone can use to take care of their regular exercise need at home. But you don’t even need that to take care of your regular exercise healthy requirement. Basic calisthenics are enough to get your muscles burning and your heart pumping and are just as capable of providing healthy fitness at home, without the need to buy anything.

If you don’t know what to do when it comes to calisthenics, a simple query with the word “calisthenics” will produce an abundance of sites that give you all the information on calisthenics that you need to succeed effectively and it’s all free.

People who engage in regular exercise at least every other day enjoy life in a way that is much different from the experience of those who do not engage in any physical activity. From the ability to feel balanced emotionally and physiologically, to a healthier extended life that is free from serious medical issues and complaints, exercising on a regular basis is not only the right thing to do it is an important and very real factor of health.

Stop living in a fantasy that shuts out achieving a healthy fit body. Everyone has the time and the ability to achieve it. It’s just a matter of doing it and keeping it up. Aroma therapy, yoga, Crystal therapy, sujok, to name a few is based on maintaining and balancing different vital energies in the bioplasmic energy body. This vital energy is very important for life to exist. PRANA is the sum total of all energy that is manifested in the universe. As oxygen is vital for keeping our physical body alive, this vital energy PRANA is as vital for the bioplasmic body to work, as electricity in needed in functioning of electronic circuit. If you are not healthy, exhausted or weak, it is because that your vital energy in the astral body is low or not in balance. Energy, what ever may the form like electricity, magnetism, nuclear, have polarity, so the PRANA also has polarity which can be called as yin and yang in Chinese, and Ida and Pingala in Indian yoga systems. This astral body consists of many meridians, channels, chakras or energy centers which circulate and distribute the vital force in the astral body through different meridians or nadis. PRANA is absorbed through the air we breathe, food, water, sun shine and also by the different chakras present in the astral body from the ambient.

The practice of yoga is the foremost and very effective method in activating and rejuanating these glands to optimum levels and canalizing and unblocking the flow of PRANA to these glands and there by you can enjoy life in all levels for many years.

1) Try to live as near to the natural surroundings with plenty of open space with clean air.

2) Near water falls as water falls are great generators of PRANA, when water runs on rocks of crystal matrix as generally found in volcanic rock formations and the concentrations of negative ions in the ambient air are potential carriers of PRANA.  

3) Under some big and flowering trees, as many of big grown up trees like oak, banyan, neem, peepal release vital energies around them. 

4) Practice of pranayam for few minutes,  as described in Patanjali yoga systems is a wonderful technique in absorbing fresh PRANA from the air and cleansing the chakras and unblocking the  meridians.

5) Go for vegetarian diets, containing fresh vegetables and ripe fruits, as they contain greater amounts of the life giving vital energies, natural vitamins, minerals and variety of essential ingredients which are easily absorbed and assimilated in the body and also to get rid of harmful toxins from the body.
